FAMILY IS AT THE HEART OF EVERYTHING WE DO
Whether you’re new here or a returning visitor, we’d love to share our story and why The Wee Village means so much to us and the families who visit.

Located just outside Parkgate, The Wee Village is a magical indoor play space where wee ones can let their imaginations grow. It’s more than just a play area, it’s a labour of love created by my family and me.
I’m Victoria, mum of three from Ballyclare, and I opened The Wee Village in February 2020. With a background in architecture and as a mum, the idea came naturally to me to create a special place for children and families alike.
INSPIRED BY FAMILY, BUILT BY FAMILY
After moving back to Northern Ireland, I met with friends and realised there was such a need for somewhere nice for children to have imaginative play. My mum passed away 21 years ago, and I feel she guides me every day. When the perfect modern barn conversion beside a florist, owned by a family friend became available, I took it as a sign from her. The whole Village is built around our family, inspired by my girls Anna, Nancy and Frances. You'll notice our families influence across the different areas from Nancy’s Beauty Parlour and Anna’s Health Centre to Treats by Frances.

CREATING THE VILLAGE
Childhood Play, Magic & Stories brought to life.
The barn was divided into different areas with a path-like floor guiding visitors through the Village. You'll find our signature magic tree at one end and a hand-painted rainbow at the other. The Wee Village opened on February 17, 2020. We were the first role-play centre of our kind in Northern Ireland!

Several times a year, you’ll also notice changes to the Village. I love curating new narrative areas and bringing beloved childhood characters to life. From Paddington and the Gruffalo to Peter Rabbit. These stories spark the imaginations and emotions of children and adults alike. Each theme features hand-painted artworks, specially chosen wooden and Montessori-inspired toys, and immersive details that spark creativity. My goal is for every visit to feel fresh, full of wonder, and offer children new ways to play and imagine.

WE ARE AWARD- WINNING
I’m so proud to have earned several local awards since opening The Wee Village. One I hold especially close to my heart is the Mighty Woman Award for ‘Commitment to Child Development.’ It means so much because everything I’ve built both here at The Wee Village and with Our Wee Family After Schools, has come from a deep love for my own family and a desire to create something truly special for others.

What touches me most is when children tell me that The Wee Village feels like home. I think that says everything about the kind of space we’ve created. Warm, welcoming, and full of heart. It’s a place where children and their families can relax, connect, and make joyful memories together.
OUR MISSION TODAY
The Wee Village is like a big home where children can explore, learn, and grow through imaginative play in a safe and clean environment. I’m passionate about supporting preschools, community groups, and charities like Cancer Fund for Children.

We’ve also introduced Our Wee Family After Schools Care, something I’m incredibly proud of. I recognised a real need for after-school childcare that truly works for local families. Our approach is centred around bespoke care plans and a deep commitment to care that actually means care. It’s about providing a warm, supportive environment where children feel seen, valued, and nurtured every single day.

I love creating a space where imaginations can grow and families can make lasting memories. This Village is my family’s gift to the community, and I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.
